Onaqui Mountains, Utah
The Onaqui Mountains in Utah offers stunning landscapes, colorful skies, and some of the most majestic wild horses in the United States. The four bachelor stallions in this image stand on a ridge, overlooking their herd, as the morning sun warmed the day and added the purple hue to the heavy clouds the dawn had left behind. It is an iconic image of the west, passing quickly as the clouds changed to the next moment, just as the wild horses may pass us by without our help.
We must protect the wild mustangs as they roam the landscapes of the United States as pure and untarnished symbols of freedom. Just as these bachelor stallions fight to one day guard over their precious families, the American Wild Horse Campaign and their supporters stand guard over the wild horses so they can live as they were born---free.
