We are so excited that Stargazer and Nora have joined the American Wild Horse Campaign team as Mustang Ambassadors. What a great way to raise awareness through their story and their journey!

We made a trip back to the Onaqui Range to participate in a Collaborative Range Clean Up and Education Day. It was great to give back while meeting new faces and seeing familiar ones as well.

I am celebrating National Wildlife Day by continuing the fight to keep wild horses and burros wild, and if they’ve lost their freedom — making sure the ones we can help are given a life that’s truly the next best thing.

So let me introduce you to two horses that I adopted, Stargazer and Northstar (or Nora for short), a bonded pair who I think are the perfect embodiment of what this holiday represents.

I’ve always been a photographer at heart. As a passionate advocate for animal protection, I’ve been behind the lens — as the owner of RJStein Photography — to bring awareness to the plight of wild mustangs. I am so excited to announce that I joined the American Wild Horse Campaign and adopted two mustangs!

Did you know that the Onaqui Wild Horse Herd was featured in Disney's Black Beauty? Some of the filming was done within Dugway Utah, where the Onaqui horses call home. Writer and Director of Black Beauty, and Founder of The Wild Beauty Foundation, Ashely Avis, is making an impact in the wild horse community in many ways, but also with the “#istandwithwildhorses” campaign.

How can we give back after the wild mustangs are rounded up? Meet STETSON, the Onaqui mustang that I sponsor from Sweetbeau Horses. All the horses that Sweetbeau rescues deserve the best Sweetbeau can provide, but they can’t do this work without help from sponsors. It is compassion and donations that make it possible for Sweetbeau Horses to ease these mustangs into a domestic life they can understand. Together, we can restore their joy.

Resilience, freedom, tenacity. All American ideals, all embodied by the American Mustang. The American Wild Horse Campaign is at the forefront of the fight to ensure these national icons remain on Western public lands for generations to come. When the wild horses of the Onaqui Mountain Herd were rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management, RJ and team took action to find sanctuary and long term homes for some of their most beloved wild horses.
