Giving Back: Meet STETSON from Sweetbeau Horses

Meet STETSON

Last year, I watched as one of my favorite wild herds, the Onaqui Mountain Wild Horse Herd in Utah, was rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management. It was devastating to see this happening and I felt powerless as social media reports and on the ground observers kept everyone informed on the capture counts. Like other wild horse advocates, we emailed, called and took every possible action step to prevent this, however it was unfortunately an inevitable outcome. After the roundup, Operation #BringOnaquiHome was born to find sanctuary for as many of the horses as we could find homes for. It is through this search that I learned of Sweetbeau Horses and am so thankful for this amazing team that came to the rescue when we called upon them!

One of the many Onaqui Horses that Sweetbeau Horses rescued was a beautifully handsome but rugged guy that became known as STETSON. The Sweetbeau Family welcomed him with open arms and rescued him from the holding pens at the Delta Facility. He has adjusted well so far—he is curious and welcoming of his human partners. He looks forward to his cookies and scratches from his trainers. He has accepted the halter and is open to more. The Sweetbeau Team will go at his pace as he feels comfortable which is something that I admire them for. STETSON needed a sponsor and I fell in love with him the moment I saw him. I am proud and honored to say, I am his sponsor and am so fortunate he found Sweetbeau.

Sponsor a Mustang: Help Heal Their Hearts, Minds, and Bodies

Sweetbeau Horses can only do their best work to save, train, and adopt wild mustangs because of supporters like you. Because these horses have been taken from their lives of freedom, they all come with some level of trauma. They begin their work immediately on healing their hearts, their minds, and their bodies. If you choose to sponsor a horse, it covers one full year to help provide regular farrier work, vaccinations, worming, dentistry, veterinary treatments, healthy feed and training for a year.   If a full sponsorship isn’t in your budget, the horses still need donations that go towards caring and healing of these rescued horses.  Every dollar helps and 100% of the donation goes towards this amazing non-profit!

These horses get and deserve the best Sweetbeau can provide, but they can’t do this work without your help. Your compassion makes it possible for Sweetbeau Horses to ease these mustangs into a domestic life they can understand. Together, we can restore their joy.

About Sweetbeau Horses

Patricia and Michael, founded Sweetbeau Horses in March of 2017 to begin a rescue and training operation for wild mustangs. Starting with 25 of the rescued herd, they launched their 501(c)(3) organization in Paso Robles, CA. These mustangs are being trained for adoption and are again finding their joy. “There is gratitude in the eyes of every horse that came to us for a new chance at happiness, and we won’t let them down” says Griffin-Soffel.

This non-profit is dedicated to saving and training our nation's wild mustangs and finding forever homes in the domestic world.

In addition, Sweetbeau will continue to be an active advocate by generating awareness, education, training programs and adoptions to help wild horses thrive in a domestic environment. The long-range goal for Sweetbeau Horses has always included equine therapy and retreat for PTSD victims and we hope to have this up and operational in 2020 and beyond.
